Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most popular actors. Her fame is as a strong actress but also at risk. Linney was born to an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested in the theatre during time spent in the summer with her famous father. Her studies in acting were through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Starting her acting career on the Broadway following her graduation, she appeared in films within two years, and then on television in the year after. Since then she has been in many films, TV plays and stage productions. She has been awarded numerous prizes in her long career. These include the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she received many awards over the years, theater has always been her first passion.
